    Hi All

You may have noticed that later VW models have much improved and easier to use software in the V30, live data in normal format instead of blocks of 4 with no descriptions, entering adaptions now gives you a a list of functions , : ie: (RESET ESI, CHANGE LANGUAGE, SET MAX INTERVAL TO SERVICE etc...) instead of the standard format of having to know which channel to adapt, and what value to enter.

****Bug we found yesterday with the engineer on Passat and Tiguan is that the comms timing is wrong on some ECU,s , you select for example reset ESI, it performs the function but then returns a "communication failed" message, procedure has been done however!, fixed in next update ****

Engineer is currently working on an automated Service reset for late AUDI :

UNTIL THEN HERE IS THE PROCEDURE:

As of the following dates/models VAG are using a new SID (Service Interval Display) which now calculates/displays both an oil change service and a Inspection service:

    AUDI A5 FROM LAUNCH
AUDI TT FROM 2008 (NEW MODEL)
    AUDI A4 FROM 2008
    AUDI A3 FROM 2008
    AUDI Q5 FROM LAUNCH
AUDI A6 FROM 2009 AND PRODUCTION WEEK 46/08
AUDI Q7 FROM 2009 AND PRODUCTION WEEK 46/08
AUDI R8 FROM MODEL YEAR 2009 AND SW VERSION 0320

FOR THE A5 THESE VALUES WILL BE DISPLAYED ON THE MMI CAR MENU
FOR THE AUDI TT AND A3 THESE VALUES WILL BE DISPLAYED ON THE DASH PANEL INSERT DISPLAY

Re-setting Channel 2 to value 0 on these models only resets the oil change service, the inspection service has to be reset as well IF REQUIRED.

The engineer is working on an automated system whereby you will simply choose "LONG LIFE" or "FIXED" and then you will choose from 3 options:

    OIL SERVICE
    INSPECTION SERVICE WITHOUT OIL
    INSPECTION SERVICE WITH OIL

Until that is released this is the manual procedure for LONG LIFE SERVICE :

Check in Dash display for Service message using "CAR" button on dash and then select "SERVICE" in the menu.

The "oil in ....days/miles" and "service/inspection in ....days/miles" will be displayed.

If oil change is required enter ECU NO 17 INSTRUMENTS, select "ADAPTION", choose Channel 002, select "READ" (should be 1) input 0, select "CHANGE" and then "SAVE".
This will reset to standard values.

TO EDIT MILES TO OIL CHANGE ENTER ECU NO 17 INSTRUMENTS, select "ADAPTION", choose Channel 50, select "READ" , then "INPUT". input required value (ADDING OR SUBTRACTING 1 FROM CURRENT VALUE WILL ADD OR SUBTRACT 100KM/62 MILES FROM CURRENT MILEAGE TO OIL CHANGE)
    select "CHANGE" and then "SAVE"

TO EDIT DAYS TO OIL CHANGE ENTER ECU NO 17 INSTRUMENTS, select "ADAPTION", choose Channel 51, select "READ", then "INPUT". input required value (ADDING OR SUBTRACTING 1 FROM CURRENT VALUE WILL ADD OR SUBTRACT 1 DAY FROM CURRENT MILEAGE TO OIL CHANGE)
    select "CHANGE" and then "SAVE"

To edit "OIL GRADE QUALITY" enter ECU NO 17 INSTRUMENTS, select "ADAPTION", choose Channel 45, select "READ" input required value (STANDARD = 1, LONGLIFE = 2)
    select "CHANGE" and then "SAVE"

If "INSPECTION/SERVICE" required, to alter mileage to service enter ECU NO 17 INSTRUMENTS, select "ADAPTION", choose Channel 52, select "READ" input required value (ADDING OR SUBTRACTING 1 FROM CURRENT VALUE WILL ADD OR SUBTRACT 100KM / 62 MILES FROM CURRENT MILEAGE TO SERVICE)

, select "CHANGE" and then "SAVE"

To alter days to service enter ECU NO 17 INSTRUMENTS, select "ADAPTION", choose Channel 54, select "READ" input required value (ADDING OR SUBTRACTING 1 FROM CURRENT VALUE WILL ADD OR SUBTRACT 1 DAY FROM CURRENT MILEAGE TO SERVICE)

, select "CHANGE" and then "SAVE"

Andrew - thanks for reply , just displays ' service!'.
Have had to return car , but checked all channels and they read as if it has been reset. Just thought I'd not done something obvious that you would know.

    Thanks

    Hi Ian

You should be able to read days/miles until service on the display, you then just add to the days/miles in the relevant channels.
New procedure coming soon will automate this by reading present value and then adding the appropriate values.
